Yellow, smelly toilet: Do this to clean it quickly and keep it fragrant all week without having to clean it

The stench of the toilet is a nightmare for many people. They often think that it is a characteristic smell and have to live with it. However, you can completely say goodbye to this unpleasant smell if you apply the 4 simple tips below.

Tip 1: Install an anti-odor core for the drain

The bad smell in the toilet usually comes from the drain pipe. When the weather gets warmer, the pressure in the pipe increases, pushing the bad smell back up. The fastest way to deal with this is to use an anti-odor core. There are many options for this type of core, depending on your budget:

- For the cheap silicone type, you just need to plug it into the floor drain or the flexible pipe under the sink. The water flowing down will push the core open, and when the water drains, the core will immediately close, thereby effectively blocking the smell.

- If you want it to last longer, you can also buy a metal core (T-type for dry areas and U-type for wet areas). This type can be used for decades if well preserved.

Tip 2: Seal the gap with waterproof glue

Even with an anti-odor core, bad smells can sometimes still seep through the gap between the flexible pipe (under the sink) and the drain. The solution in this case is sealing putty:

This type of glue is often sold in stores for a few tens of thousands of dong per bag, or you can also take advantage of leftover glue from installing an air conditioner if you have one. You just need to knead the glue, wrap it around the joint between the pipe and the drain, and combine it with an anti-odor core to make the bad smell disappear immediately.

In addition, this glue can also be used for gaps in the smoke valve or in the wall hole. Check if there are any gaps in your bathroom, if there are, then cover them all.

Tip 3: Clean the drain to completely eliminate the smell

After sealing all the gaps, if you still smell the bad smell from the drain, the cause is due to the dirty, moldy drain inside. Just blocking it is not enough, you need to clean it thoroughly

Pour baking soda into the drain, add white vinegar and wait for it to foam to wash away the grease stuck inside. In case of slightly dirty drains, you can handle it simply like this.

If the smell still remains, use a drain cleaner (mainly caustic soda - NaOH). Pour a little in, add a little hot water, dirt, hair, grease will dissolve quickly. Note, you need to wear gloves when using the drain cleaner to ensure safety.

Tip 4: Fix the toilet and add a little fragrance

The biggest odor in the bathroom usually comes from the toilet. If the toilet moves, the flange will loosen, not only causing a bad smell but also leading to water leakage.

How to handle: If the toilet is glued to the floor with silicone sealant, check to see if the glue around the base of the toilet is peeling off. If it is, reapply it immediately. Old glue that has been moldy for a long time will not only smell but also be unhygienic. You should choose a good anti-mold type and replace it periodically.

After dealing with the bad smell, open the ventilation door. If you want to do it faster, use rose water or essential oil in the corner of the room to immediately eliminate the bad smell.
