A Strange Sight on the Road
In Franklin, Louisiana, a woman noticed a small dog running along a quiet residential street.
Something was tangled around his paw — what looked like a piece of clothing, possibly a sweatshirt.
As she got closer, she realized the situation was worse than it seemed.
The dog was terrified.
And painfully thin.
A Shocking Discovery
When the woman carefully removed the tangled fabric, she saw more signs of neglect.
The Chihuahua’s body was emaciated.
His skin was crawling with fleas.
It was clear he hadn’t been properly cared for in a long time.
Then, something even more unexpected happened.
The dog’s owner walked out of a nearby house.
Instead of concern… the response was chilling.
They simply told her:
“You can take him. We can’t afford to feed him.”
A Call for Help
Shaken by what she had just witnessed, the woman immediately reached out for help.

“She was panicking,” Muse later recalled.
“She just kept saying, ‘I found this baby on the road… I don’t know what to do.’”
At first, it seemed like a case involving just one dog.
But it didn’t stay that way for long.
What Was Hidden Inside the House
The next day, a foster volunteer went back to the home — expecting to pick up a couple more dogs the owner mentioned.
But something felt off.
“There are more dogs here,” the foster reported.
That was all Muse needed to hear.
She went to the house herself.
A Situation Worse Than Expected
Inside, Muse found multiple dogs.
All of them were malnourished, frightened, and unsure of the world around them.
Some hid in corners.
Others froze in place.
At first, Muse tried to approach the situation calmly — offering resources, even suggesting a pet food bank.
But as tensions rose, and another severely underweight dog appeared outside, she knew it was time to act.
She called the police.
Eight Lives Saved
With the help of local officers, Muse and her team were able to remove eight Chihuahua mixes from the property.
A mother.
A father.
And several puppies from multiple litters over time.
All of them had been living in poor conditions.
All of them needed help.
“We loaded them into the van,” Muse said.
“And honestly… I didn’t even know where they would all go yet.”

During transport, most of the dogs were completely shut down.
